The end is likely nigh for one of the last remaining early-20th Century homes in the heart of Midtown.
Construction fences have been erected around the National Register of Historic Places-listed Dr. Marion Luther Brittain Sr. House, which was constructed on West Peachtree Street in 1911.
Plans call for the home and two other nondescript buildings on the block between 12th and 13th streets to be torn down for a massive multi-tower development. In more uplifting news, swaths of ratty surface parking will also be devoured.
First announced late last year, the Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio-designed project would boast a hotel, residences, and office space surrounding a park, all located above a parking and retail podium.
Filings for permits for the development indicate the complex would house 14,174 square feet of retail, 67 condo units, a 153-room hotel, and nearly 660,000 square feet of office space.
Located halfway between Arts Center and Midtown MARTA stations, the building nonetheless would include a staggering 1,480 parking spaces.
The towers would rise across the street from the recently topped-out Northside Medical Office Building, and a block southeast of Icon Midtown.
No definitive word on when demolition or construction could start, but with permits issued and a fence up, the work could begin at any time.
