In initial offering, 50 homes of more than 1,300 planned are now available on Y’allywood’s southside
Pinewood Forrest—a new mixed-use development anchored by a sprawling Fayette County movie studio—has released its first single-family home sites for purchase.
A groundbreaking last week signaled the start of work on 50 homes, representing a mere drop in the bucket for the more than 1,300 residences expected to fill the site in the coming years. While 600 multifamily flats will add to the total, the majority of residences will be single-family homes.
With the first offering, expect a range of products, from small cottages to sprawling estate homes. Ultimately, plans call for eight different types of housing, all inspired by European residential architecture of yore. A press release lays out the options:
- Cottages: Practical and stylish smaller footprint homes that are easy to maintain without sacrificing any functional spaces.
- Estate Homes: Inspired by villas of ancient Pompeii and Palmyra, these homes have private outdoor spaces formed by the home’s walls and colonnades so interior living areas flow out.
- Mews Homes: Mews is a British term for residences that line up along a common road or pedestrian path. Spacious living areas center around and above carriage houses (garages).
- Pend Homes: Inspired by Scottish farm compounds, the Pend Home is a group of buildings that frame a courtyard.
- Shop Homes: A modern take on an age-old residence, Shop Homes are located above the space where you practice your talent, trade, or craft. Ideal for artists and makers.
- Terrace Homes: An urban, international take on attached townhomes, set on tree-lined streetscapes.
- Village Homes: Stylish detached homes offering a comfortable space in a neighborhood setting. Ideal for growing families.
- Canopy Homes: Pinewood Forrest’s most unique home design lets residents live amidst greenery, wildlife, and majestic trees in homes built from solid, natural materials.
You have to wonder how long a marketing firm spent crafting that.
Cottages and terrace homes in the first offering start at $375,000 for two-bedroom, two-bathroom configurations. Village homes start at nearly $600,000, and the less expensive of the two estate homes on offer is nearly $1.1 million.
Located near McDonough, the development could help solidify growth on the south side of Atlanta. More than half the acreage in the project will be set aside for public greenspace, connected by more than 15 miles of walking trails, officials said.
A village square will house retail space as well as a hotel, planned for completion in 2018.
The 234-acre project is the vision of Dan Cathy, who also happens to be the CEO of Chick-fil-A.
